New from Nagoya 2010: Protected Planet!

Congratulations to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on the launch of Protected Planet, an interactive website that provides engaging, in depth insight into the world's protected areas (PAs). Solertium is proud to have partnered with UNEP, IUCN, and Vizzuality on its development.
Visitors to the site can tour 150,000 PAs such as marine reserves and national parks, view official data from the World Database on Protected Areas, and see corresponding IUCN Red List data on the species that inhabit them. Visitors can also interact with each PA by editing the related data, uploading photos, and recommending places if interest - and then share it to via social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The site was launched at the Convention on Biological Diversity's tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CBD COP 10) in Nagoya, Japan.
